Greetings everyone! I am Arc. Chibuzo Chinonso OHANEJE and I’m thrilled to share with you a bit about myself, my professional journey and experience during my internship at CPDI AFRICA!
I was born in Umuele, a village in Amazanor Autonomous Community in Njaba L.G.A. of Imo State of NIGERIA. Taken by my parents to Cameroon at the age of 3 months I did all my schooling (from Nursery till I acquired my Baccalaureate in Mathematics and Physics in Senior Secondary in a French Schooling System), being top of almost all my classes and more than 5 times overall school best, I returned to Nigeria to continue with my undergraduate (finishing top of my class, department and faculty in FUT-Yola 2006) and Postgraduate Studies (finishing top of my class in UNIUYO 2014) in Architecture. These were crowned with my Full Registration as an ARCHITECT of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I like travels, watching movies and I am a Tech Enthusiast. A fun fact about me is the ability to work (Draw) at 100% while watching a movie at the same time. I am fluent in FRENCH, ENGLISH and IGBO.
I was gifted with an Artistic hand right from my Nursery School days, where I received framed drawings I did as a graduation present as well as wining local and regional drawing competitions, with some Comics to my name. The Secondary school specialization in Mathematics and Physics was a catalyst that propelled me into Architecture, being a combination of ARTS and SCIENCES. I love Architecture because of it creative and problem-solving capacities, being able to turn emptiness (bare lands or existing buildings) into masterpieces that are a combination of WAY OF LIFE, MATERIALS and TECHNOLOGY. African Architecture is Unique. It combines a lot of factors that are defined and deeply rooted in the African Culture itself. African Architecture enshrines Culture, Materials, Spirituality, Processes, Caste System, Aesthetics and Forms, Sustainable as well as Green Architecture. Deep within a specific African Cultural Architecture, you can understand the people, their story, their philosophy and believe as well as the synergy between the people and nature.
My quest in finding more friendly building systems for our community was propelled when CPDI AFRICA found me, taking to a journey of self-discovery answering not only my questions, but making me realize that Africa had all the answers all this while. My journey will thus culminate with the NJIKOTA IGBO CULTURAL AND RESORT CENTER. This has changed my perspective forever. Those 10 weeks of Internship were golden, thanks to Nmadili Okwumabua and her great team of professors.
This movement should be sustained to take AFRICA to its glory!
I said it.
